Hermosa

Prior to 1837, China

This lavender-pink, fragrant rose is double, cupped, and beautifully shaped; many rosarians suspect Bourbon influence in its breeding. It was long popular as a container plant for European window gardens and its low, compact form is well suited for any small garden or for a massed effect in a larger border. In the 19th Century, it was considered the best for low hedges. Grown as a container plant for European window gardens. Resembles 'Old Blush', but it is not as tall. It is fuller and has more Lilac. Sometimes classified as Bourbon.
